Our I-171H came last Saturday!!! It took only 7 weeks, which is amazing since our regional immigration office was closing down July 31 to become a national office which will probably take longer to process these docs. So, the I-171H is the document approving us to adopt an international child and this doc also begins their immigration process. Right away on Saturday, we sent a PDF of the I-171H to our agency in Texas and on Monday they forwarded it to the Loving Hearts Baby Home Orphanage in Kampala.
So we are officially on the WAITING LIST!
I found out today from our case worker that there are 4 families ahead of us on the list. However, we are not all requesting the same type of child, so there is a possibility our match will be sooner than the others if our requested child is available. We requested a 2-4 year old, girl or boy, relatively healthy without any major special needs. So now, we just wait while the Lord sifts everything out at the orphanage.
Please pray for us, our families, our matching process and this little one that is waiting for a daddy and a mommy, a sister and a brother.....and a cat and 2 gerbils.
And grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins.....Lord have mercy on us.

ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you're getting an older child. My good friend got a 4 1/2 year old and she fit perfectly into their family. I'm so glad it was quick. What's the estimate on the waiting list?
