Encouragement

Our family has just started reading "The Hiding Place" by Corrie ten Boom. I came across this book on our shelf a few weeks ago...I had borrowed it quite a while back from my beloved Grandma Florence - maybe it had been one of her treasures. For those unfamiliar, it is a true story of how one family in Holland followed Jesus by harboring Jews during the second World War, and of their secret service that led them to suffer with their Jewish friends to the glory of God. What a family of faith!

We just read about Father ten Boom. His family of 6 and 2 aunties lived in a semi-cramped house in Haarlem, Holland. After his children had grown, and his wife and sisters-in-law had died, "...their chairs hadn't stayed empty long. Father could never bear a house without children and whenever he heard of a child in need of a home a new face would appear at the table. Somehow, out of his watch shop that never made money he fed and dressed and cared for eleven more children after his own four were grown." Small things for Jesus.

I might include more excerpts from this great family of faith as we read. How is God challenging your family with faith in Him these days??
